Low-yielding vines, boutique wines

Tiwaiwaka (tee why waka) is a Maori word for fantail, and this image appears on wine labels.

Tiwaiwaka Wines is a partnership between Morton and Elise Anderson, who are committed to making handcrafted premium award winning wines.  Very boutique, fruit is grown on  just two 5-acre vineyards on the Martinborough Terrace.  The vines have been closely planted so they are low yielding and on a trellis system to maximize the warmth from the ground. 

Regular plunging during fermentation with extended maturation and gentle basket pressing produces wines with great depth of character, smooth on the palate and full expression of the fruit.
