Murdoch James Estate

Doing a lot of little things very well

That is what Murdoch James Estate is all about. Founded in 1986 and still family owned there is a single-minded focus on producing premium wines, which is evident in every bottle. Sustainable viticulture, low cropping levels & intensive hands-on practices make the most of our terroir.

Then, in the winery, slow, gentle pressing is followed by controlled fermentation at low temperatures. Small batch ferments, varied yeasts and minimal use of pumps retain soft fine-grained tannins, while aging is in 100% French barriques. The result: interesting and well differentiated world-class wines.

A quick check of our visitors book indicates we are regarded as one of the best vineyard experiences in the region. This is because we can offer visitors an unmatched combination of experiences, which include cellar door sales and tastings, wine tours, vineyard accommodaton, café, functions and weddings.

Our team is friendly, knowlegable and welcoming. The unique underground barrel caves are a  very special visitor experience (as part of one of our organised tours).
