Hudson Vineyard

Small and family-oriented

Hudson Vineyard is a small family owned vineyard 8 kms south of Martinborough township , on the road to Lake Ferry. This area was the first sheep station in New Zealand, known as Wharekaka.

The Hudson family planted the 16 acre block in 2003, with sauvignon blanc, pinot noir, and riesling .  The family orientation is reflected strongly in the names chosen for their vintages:

  • RPM Riesling represents the three children Rebecca, Paul and Marise
  • John Henry Pinot Noir is named for Mr Hudson senior, still helping out in the vineyard aged 91
  • Mokopuna Sauvignon Blanc is named for the family’s beautiful grandchildren
