Primary Pinot - 200 Hands
The region is all keyed up for the initial release of Primary Pinot – 200 Hands 2009. This is a wine jointly crafted by the children of Martinborough School and the winemaking team at Martinborough Vineyard. The bottles of wine made will be sold this Saturday 31st July, 6pm by auction, at Martinborough School.
While the project is a fundraiser for the school it has been an integral part of the children’s technology and careers last year with the children picking and stomping the grapes and also doing the artwork for the labels.
Martinborough Vineyard winemaker, Paul Mason, guarantees you’ll enjoy the wine “the kids have done a great job assisting in this one” he said “and I’m looking forward to people being able to try it”.
“Those attending the auction will have the chance to sample the wine before bidding starts” says Peter Wilkins, Martinborough Vineyard Viticulturist. Peter is the man behind the joint project having come up with the idea and also the name for the wine and is currently putting together the finishing touches for the auction. “It’s been an amazing project to work on” says Wilkins “with the school being incredibly excited since it was proposed”.
Martinborough School Principal, Ann Easter said “it’s good to see it all come to fruition and know the community and the school are working so closely together”.
Tickets to the auction, at $10 each include a taste of the wine and canapés, are available from Martinborough School.
