A Hot Date With Martinborough Pinot Noir

It’s true that Martinborough wineries only produce a tiny percentage of the nations wine while boasting world class results, but are they also leading the way in new ways to enjoy it?

Not content with a recent string of five star ratings, awards and international accolades, a select group of quality Martinborough wineries have come up with yet another winner, but this time it’s in the world of entertainment. Pinot Speed Dating. 

Not to be confused with a singles dating event, the Pinot Speed Dating event at Brackenridge Country Retreat & Spa on the 28th of August is about finding a lasting relationship with your favourite Martinborough Pinot Noir. 

Modelled on an actual speed dating event, guests will enjoy at least ten dates with different Pinot Noir’s throughout the course of the evening, while winemakers divulge all in chasing a love connection for their beloved wine. 

Gone are the days of stark white table cloths, wads of tasting notes, and the struggle to find a spot to relax and savour a particularly delightful wine. Brackenridge Country Retreat & Spa is a well known luxurious location that has been creatively transformed to encourage a passionate encounter with each Pinot presented during the evening. 

As with any successful wine event, the Pinot Speed Dating dinner menu deserves a gold medal on its own merits. Travis from Bar Salute in Greytown has designed a stunning menu of lovingly prepared Tapas, all carefully matched with each wine. So if the wine alone is isn’t enough to make guests mouths water, then we imagine that a plate full of Moroccan spiced wild venison with Pinot jelly, or one of the other ten tasty offerings just might do the trick.

Is the colour appealing to your eye? Does the aroma fill your nose and arouse your taste buds? Does your first sip feel like a kiss? These are just some of the questions Pinot speed daters will be asked during the course of the evening to check if a wine fits into the “Hot Steamy Fling” or “Grow Old by the Fire” categories. Speed dating connotations are tastefully immersed into the evening’s structure to create a unique approach in tasting wine, and an evening of entertainment never previously experienced. 

As responsible hosts, event organisers have arranged both value & luxury accommodation packages for out of town guests, and a coach & ticket packages for Masterton locals. All package options are available on the event website www.pinotspeeddating.co.nz .
